- I liked Sky Rider because it's an exciting book and you never know what's going to come next. I also like it because it could never really happen to someone.
- I liked Sheltie because its about a girl named Emma and she doesn't want to move, but it turns out she has fun. Emma got a pony and she had so much fun with him.
- I liked Beauty because it's about a boy named Luke and he thinks he's such a good rider, but it turns out he keeps on falling off. In the end
it's sad but then it gets happy again.
- I liked Riding School Rivals because at Birchwood Stable's there is a new horse that two girls want to ride in a horse show. One of the girls is a rich girl who is used to getting her way. The other girl is an expert jumper and is sure that Majesty would make a great jumper. In the end the girls were friends.
- I liked Ride of Courage because it's about a girl who lives in Yorktown, Virginia. Her uncle and brother are both fighting the redcoats but they do not know that the redcoats are advancing. The question is does eleven-year-old Molly Randall have the courage to ride the horse named Sultan, the powerful and spirited Arabian horse? You will have to find out.
- I liked Black Beauty because it's a classic tale of a horse in the olden days. This book is written so
it's like the horse wrote it. It is a very sad book for Ginger and for Reuben Smith.
- I liked Wonder's Promise because it's about a girl named Ashleigh. Ashleigh finds out that they're training Wonder for a thoroughbred racer. When Wonder got her new trainer she disliked him. Soon Wonder was not obeying her new trainer because he was too harsh. Ashleigh hears the new trainer saying that Wonder was untrainable and useless. Butt that's not the worst. Wonder doesn't seem to know her anymore. After Wonder throws Ashleigh she gets scared of Wonder, her own filly. She thinks about what the trainer said.
Could he be right? That's up to you to find out.
- I liked National Velvet because back then in England girls couldn't ride in the Grand National (a horse race with jumps). Velvet Brown and her family had a horse named
Miss Ada.
- I liked Pride Of The Green Mountains because it's
about a girl named Rosalie who can't believe that her mother had just said
they would have to sell Major their horse. Rosalie thought Major wasn't just
any old horse he was special to her. She had to find a way to keep Major.
Rosalie had to find a way by herself because her father was in the Civil
War. Her mother couldn't help because she had to work at home. Rosalie had
no brothers or sisters, she was an only child.
- I liked Gib Rides Home because it was about a boy
named Gib and he was an orphan. When Gib got to where he was going he
wondered if he would ever belong in one place. Gib worked on a ranch. He got
to muck out stalls and groom horses.
- I liked Summer Of The Stallion because it's
about a girl named Janey. She went to her grandfather's ranch for the
summer. She loved riding but that was the only time she could ride the whole
year. She rode a horse named Blue. She even rode to get the mail when it was
raining. Her grandfather also owned a horse named Smoky. They had to catch
the stallion no matter what.
- I liked Seabiscuit because it is a true story about
a stubborn horse, named Seabiscuit, who wouldn't go for a workout. Then
finally he runs and becomes a champion race horse. There is a little
violence but not too much. There are some sad parts and some funny parts. In
the beginning it is really weird. It talks about one person, then talks
about another person, then another, then about Seabiscuit. In the middle all
of the people meet and become one team.
- In the Heartland series, I like the parts where they
heal the horses. It gives a lot of description. I never read the first or
third books, but I read numbers 2, 4, and 5. I didn't have to read the other
books. It gave so much description I got caught up on the books.
- Thoroughbred is a wonderful series about a girl named
Ashleigh and her horses. She races her horses. A girl named Samantha is a
stable hand and has fallen in love with Ashleigh's horses. There are over
100 books in the Thoroughbred series, and because the main character's name
is Ashleigh there is the Thoroughbred Ashleigh series, too.
