Here are some photographs from the 30th Saas-Fee course, which took place in Les Diablerets, Switzerland, 3-8 April 2000, on the subject of "High Energy Spectroscopic Astrophysics".

These photographs were taken by Poshak and Raquel (well, actually an anonymous tourist and a waiter) and scanned by Poshak.
A couple of my own (much less interesting) photos are here.

Hotel and course participants
Some of the course participants outside the hotel, waiting for the bus to go to the glacier (visible in the background).

The lecture hall
The hall where the lectures were held. The free mineral water was the most popular feature.

A simple Pole in a complex coat
An anonymous astronomer...

Note my expert stance
We also learnt the fine Swiss art of curling. Surprisingly, the Canadian among us sucked...

View from the glacier
Les Diablerets sits beneath a 3000m-high glacier. Here's the view from the top.

The fearsome X-ray group...
After just a few days, we were accomplished skiers...

We look almost professional...
I'm sure David would like me to draw attention to his lovely floral jacket.

Possibly the worst photo of me ever taken...
At the end of the course, we had time for some fine-dining in Geneva.
This is where PPARC's money goes...
