Welcome

You have stumbled across Paul Merolla's new and improved website. Welcome, and enjoy your time here. A summary of the site's contents are below:
Lab
If you are interested in how the brain works, you are out of luck since no one really knows. However, the lab I work in at Stanford is building a specialized hardware system called Neurogrid, which may one day help unravel the brain's mysteries. Neurogrid will be a multichip neuromorphic system that is capable of emulating one million neurons in real-time. Unlike other platforms aimed at simulating large-scale cortical networks, Neurogrid will be no larger than an iPod!
Resources
For all the MATLAB junkies out there, I've posted some of the projects that I've developed over the past few years. Here you'll find: LogSpice, a fully integrated platform for simulating asynchronous circuits; OptionRocket, an advanced tool for pricing options; and a suite of tools for interfacing MATLAB to Interactive Broker's API.
Fun Stuff
Here you will find a theory on the nature of reality, which I think is eerily consistent with quantum mechanics. I came up with this idea after reading Nick Bostrom's enthralling paper: "Are you living in a computer simulation?".
Coming soon ... Financial Blog
Inspired by Veryan Allen's hedge fund blog, I have decided to put some of my financial ideas in a similar blog format.
