Photos of my friends and me

Agoura High School Friends

These two galleries are devoted to photos I took with my high school friends. I didn't have too many digital camera photos from high school, so some of these were scanned-in film photographs. Maybe someday I'll scan in some more pictures.

Center for Talented Youth

I attended the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) summer school program in Lancaster, PA during second session of 1998. I took a genetics course, but most of my wonderful CTY memories were, of course, outside the classroom.

MIT Freshman Year

Freshman year was all about transitions, but once I got the hang of life at MIT, it was a lot of fun. First semester was a drag since it seemed to last forever, but second semester was amazing.

MIT Sophomore Year

Sophomore year was my first year on grades, so academic pressure intensified. On the other hand, I was getting much more comfortable with my friends so we had more fun at the same time.

MIT Junior Year

Work hard, play harder, then work even harder. Junior year was about feeling old, making fun of freshmen, and cooking tons of food in our suite kitchen. Even though the pressures of work and school got overwhelming at times, I found solace in the rare and valuable free time that I spent with my friends.

MIT Senior Year

My last year as an undergraduate involved much fewer classes and much more time spent working in my research group. However, my friends and I still managed to find time to act immature while we still can: going out to dinner, dressing up in ridiculous clothes, and discovering the magic of the infamous eiffel tower.

MIT M.Eng. Year

During my fifth and final year at MIT, I worked towards my Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree. I graduated in June 2005 with an S.B. degree and stayed that summer to work on my M.Eng. thesis, finishing in May 2006. This was my first year living outside of the dormitory, so my days of undergrad revelry are over, as shown by these relatively tamer pictures. This year, there were far less crazy party photos and more wholesome photos from dinners and outings.

Stanford 1st-Year Ph.D.

A new school year at a new school on the opposite coast! I was fortunate that some of my friends from MIT came out to the Bay Area to work, so I could hang out with them. At the same time, I also made some cool new friends in the Computer Science department at Stanford.
