Nothin' But Net

Abstract

This report uses a penalty method with a BFGS optimzation routine to compute the position of an idealized chain-link net with minimum potential energy. The MATLAB code includes a general BFGS routine with a bisecting line search and a set of test functions on which to assess the robustness of the optimization routine.
