The Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel Award

I was honored that at the 107th Stanford Commencement in 1998 by being awarded the Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel Award for Distinctive Contributions to Undergraduate Education. This has special meaning for me in that it was based on letters from students who had found value in my classes.

The award was given

"For encouraging creativity and spontaneity in generations of Stanford actors and actresses;

For innovative courses that emphasize more than just the technical art of acting;

For her encouragement as coach of the Stanford Improvisors, whose members have brought the lessons of creativity worldwide;

And for sharing her infectious love of the theater with countless undergraduates.

Patricia L. Ryan, Senior Lecturer in Drama is hereby designated a 1998 recipient of the LLOYD W. DINKELSPIEL AWARD for

Distinctive Contributions to Undergraduate Education

Given June 14, 1998 at the One Hundred and Seventh Annual Commencement Exercises of the Leland Stanford Junior University by Gehard Casper, President of the University"
