Biographical Information
I am a third
year law student at Stanford University in sunny California! I'm having an awesome time; it's
pretty darn sweet here. I was born in Bellevue, WA, but I have lived in Sammamish, WA
my whole life. I graduated from Eastlake
High School '02 and from Rice University
(Houston, TX)
in May, 2005, summa cum laude, with a BA in economics with honors and
political science. I am also a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. I
ran track and cross country throughout junior high, high school, and undergrad
at Rice. During the summers, I have worked at the Federal Trade Commission,
REI, and Remlinger Farms! Check out my bio on the La
Sportiva Mountain Running Team website.
Family:
One thing that all members of my family have in common is our
desire to exercise!
- My father, Nathanel, was a
middle distance runner on the Israeli national team. He held Israeli records
and won national championships in the 60's and 70's. He later went on to
have immense success as a coach. In addition to running, he loved downhill
skiing, swimming, biking, and scuba. He had a passion for traveling and
seeing all the beautiful sights and cultures the world has to offer. My
beloved father passed away in 2001 from brain cancer. He will be
remembered forever and his spirit is always with me.
- My mother, Ita, is a
Registered Nurse, acupuncturist, and personal trainer. She is a
powerlifter and a bench press world record holder. At 112 lbs and 55 y.o.,
she benches 226+ pounds - AMAZING!!!!! As an adolescent, she
competed in gymnastics and sprinting on the track.
- One of my sisters, Karen (32), is a
Naturopathic Doctor in the Seattle
area. She is a staple of the local road running circuit, triathlons, and
half ironmen competitions.
- Karen’s
daughter, Tamar, is my neice.
- My
other sister, Talli (31), has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Talli enjoys working out and also loves to cook delicious organic food.
- Talli’s
son, Bram, is my nephew.
- My
family has a Chihuahua named
Pepe. He is almost 7 years old, a tiny 4 pounds, and fawn brown. Photos of my dog Pepe!
Extended
Family:
Basically all of my extended family
lives in and around Tel Aviv, Israel.
My grandfather is a
Holocaust survivor, escaping from the Jewish ghetto in Skarzysko,
Poland to the Soviet Union. His story was included in the Steven Spielberg
Holocaust documentary and he wrote a book on his experience.
One of my uncles, Yair
Pantilat, was recognized as one of Israel's 50 greatest sportsmen as a
middle distance runner participating in the 1960 Rome Olympics, winning many
national championships, and inspiring my father to run. See Running
in the Pantilat Family in Hebrew. Another uncle, Zeev, is a
prominent nuclear physicist.
International Travels:
My father's passion for traveling afforded me many opportunities
to see the world. I have been fortunate to be able to travel to Israel, Australia,
New Zealand, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Norway, Sweden,
Denmark, France, Spain,
Portugal, Greece, Turkey,
Costa Rica, India, Singapore,
Mexico, more parts of Canada
than most Canadians, and other places I forgot. I have also been to Hawaii and Alaska,
but that's domestic.
One day, I want to visit the Serengeti Plain in Kenya and Tanzania,
and the great Himalayan Range in Nepal. I also want to visit Torres
del Paine National Park of Patagonia in
Chile/Argentina. Going to places like Hawaii,
Tahiti, and the Seychelles
are always cool too!

Climb as high as you can dream.
Dare to confront what can only be imagined.
It has to start somewhere;
It has to start sometime;
What better place than here;
What better time than now!
