Nader Moussa
Graduate Student, (M.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Stanford 2008).
Ph.D. Candidate, Geophysics, Stanford University
I have just been formally admitted as a doctoral candidate in the Geophysics Department at Stanford University. Over the last year, I've been working for the Stanford Exploration Project as a software and hardware engineer, after completing my Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. I'd been been building supercomputers for oilmen. Now that I am formally a doctoral candidate, I will be researching angle domain common image gather analyses to separate reflection scattering from tomography in full waveform inversion using reverse time migration. But in my spare time I have been feeding the homeless, building fairly large rocket engines, making automobiles safer and more reliable, managing accounts for my building in Escondido Village, hosting presidents for dinner, and building robot pets; this involves playing fewer video games than last year.
I presented my concluding work for the VLF group (making lightning detectors for spaceships) at American Geophysical Union and National Radio Science Meeting (PDF).
My patent applications have been making forward progress; hang on, it takes a while... (I already collected royalties so I'm not too concerned about the remaining paper pushing - I will leave that to a team of highly skilled lawyers in Texas.)
I got another Patent thing coming up with Toyota; it's related to work we did with computers and digital electronics for cars; I'll spill some more details when the time is right. It's currently being filed in the United States, but it may also be filed in Japan; as always, I will leave the paper-pushing to our highly skilled lawyers (these guys are in Silicon Valley).- US 20080016029 OPTIMIZING A QUERY TO A DATABASE

- (And another in progress with Toyota).
Now that those are out of the way I can concentrate on building my robot pets (and creating, integrating, and transforming fundamental understanding of Earth processes, using that knowledge to help provide energy, water, and a safe and sustainable planet). It has been busy, so I haven't updated everything; but check me HERE if you want to contact me.
The Real NimurServer Might Or Might Not Be On
I was also in the news and did some other stuff while I was at NC State... but that's all old...
