Biography

 

Neil Malhotra is an Assistant Professor of Political Economy in the Graduate School Business at Stanford University. He also holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Political Science.

 

His research interests include political psychology, legislative politics, and survey methodology. Among other topics, he has written on responsibility attribution following government failure, the relationship between legislative institutions and public finance, optimal methods for designing and analyzing surveys, and publication bias in the social sciences.

 

His research has been published or is forthcoming in the following journals: American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Quarterly Journal of Political Science, Public Opinion Quarterly, British Journal of Political Science, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Analysis, Political Behavior, State Politics and Policy Quarterly, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, Sociological Methods and Research, Social Science Quarterly, and Journal of Official Statistics.

 

His research has received awards from the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, and the American Association for Public Opinion Research (Pacific Chapter).

 

He received his Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University, where he was the Melvin & Joan Lane Graduate Fellow. He received a B.A. in Economics (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Distinction in the Major) from Yale University.
