About Me:
I am a native Batimorean who grew up interested in three things: dinosaurs, video games, and what makes people tick. Over the years, I have outgrown the first, indulged in the second, and made a career out of the third.
When I matriculated to Columbia University in 2005, I was drawn to experimental psychology because it offered a rigorous way to answer the big questions by asking the small ones. My big question is in what ways who we are and where we are influences how we think and see the world around us. These social identities and contexts can permeate processes we tend to think of as identity-neutral, such as memory, perception, and cognition. In my past research with Tory Higgins and Valerie Purdie-Vaughns, as well as my current research with Nalini Ambady and Jennifer Eberhardt, my goal is to bring together the whos, wheres, and hows.
I also manage to squeeze in some Rock Band time between the two.
