About me

My official name is Maria Montserrat Medina Martinez, but I go by MONTSE MEDINA (Please, please, please don't call me Maria Martinez).

Recent Work

I'm currently on leave of absence from the Ph.D. program in Computational and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford. I also hold two Masters from Stanford, one in Aeronatics and Astronautics, and the other in Computational and Mathematical Engineering. Eldar Sadikov and I have co-founded Qwhispr, the first social search engine. In the past, I also worked for Oracle in text search.

My Ph.D. adviser is Pat Hanrahan. I was working on Liszt project: parallel computing platform and a domain specific language for scientific computing. This work was published at SC11 under the name "Liszt: A Domain Specific Language for Building Portable Mesh-based PDE Solvers".

I was also doing data mining/social network research with Hector Garcia-Molina and Jure Leskovec, which resulted in Correcting for Missing Data in Information Cascades publication, presented at WSDM 2011 and Best Student Paper Award.
