Paparoa National Park is not one of the more famous national parks in New Zealand, probably because it was one of the most recently-created, but I liked it as well as any there. The trail along the bank of the Pororari River, with bluffs above, is a wonderful walk. One can kayak on the river sometimes (we wanted to), but it was in flood conditions when we were there, so no kayaking that day...
