Far Northern Europe
Longyearbyen, Svalbard (Spitsbergen)
Svalbard is a group of islands about halfway between the north cape of Norway and the North Pole, at about 78 degrees north (with the world's northernmost full service hotel). The majority of the year, it's either always day or always night. This picture was taken in September, when "the sun was wandering around in weird parts of the sky without setting" (to quote The Beloved Spouse, who was the one there). Of course, the low sun makes for great lighting for photos. (This is around the main town of Longyearbyen.)
