There's actually a species of parrot that lives in the cold of Patagonia. This one was calmly sitting on a downed tree branch just about two feet off a busy hiking trail. A loud group of about a half dozen hikers in front of us walked right by it without noticing. I slowly crept up on it, taking photos, closer and closer, until I was practically on top of it, and it never budged. We joked that it was glued to the tree branch; but when we passed by again much later that day on our way back, it was gone.
