Hoodoos (natural rock formations) of soft volcanic tufa, which litter the landscape in Cappadocia (central Turkey); very weird and interesting to see. The locals have been hollowing homes and other structures out of them for over a millenium. (There are also huge underground cities, which would hold tens of thousands, hollowed out centuries ago, and now open for tourists. Very cool.)
