The most crowded corner of Nikko's Tosho-gu Shrine is around the famous "sleeping cat" wooden sculpture that decorates the building, by some famous 17th-century Japanese wood carver. There are many other similar animal sculptures throughout the building, but, for reasons I cannot comprehend, this is the one that gets all the attention.
