We were in Tokyo at the beginning of cherry blossom season. Shinjuku Garden was full of cherry blossoms, and full of crowds of cherry blossom watchers (many with cameras, from camera phones to pro-level cameras with tripods). Half the entertainment was watching them all. They take cherry blossoms very seriously in Japan...
