The Too-Famous Golden Pavilion, Kyoto

The one part of Kyoto we saw that was swarming with bus tours was the famous Golden Pavilion. It looks peaceful from this view, but I had to zigzag my way through hordes of tourists to get it. It's name in Japanese is Kinkaku-ji, and it started as a 14th-century shogun's retirement villa, and was later converted to a temple.
