Back home I looked at the USGS map different ways, slanting
it this way and that,
until I had the same view as the news photo that you saw on the
previous page.
Gazing at this for a while and comparing with the news photo of the main levee break, I noticed something curious. Do you see it too? Next I did a similar manipulation covering the farm of Mr. N_______. It became evident why he had to pump out his flooded land; he was in a depression blocked by the levee.
