Joshua Tree - Thanksgiving 2005

Assorted pics from the annual Thanksgiving trip to Joshua Tree. I can't remember anything we climbed. I fell of Wangerbanger a bunch. Fell off Left Ski Track too. It was a nice week - lots of folks in from out of town, including the illustrious Dennis Murphree, Kate Arnold, Julia Goodnough, and Joe Johnson.

First weekend spent climbing with Julia, Kate, and Polly:

Erika's brother rolled up in a pimped-out van and cooked up the best meat I've ever tasted (vegetarian).

Steph G. following something in Lost Horse.

Dennis Murphree flew in from the east coast for some action, and apparently got a deal on the cholesterol special at Vons.

Murph leading Touch and Go.

Murph leading the classic Pope's Crack.

November was apparently rainy enough to fill Barker Dam, which we cruised by after Polly led Room to Shroom.

Bouldering out near Gunsmoke with the SAC posse.

The morning crew, noodling the guidebooks.

Polly leading something on DQ Wall, with Ansel "Alex Cooper" Adams capturing the moment from above.

More action on the Dairy Queen Wall - Matty R on something or other. Notice the attentive belay by Dave J.

Jefe was promised a coveted spot in Alex's yearly climbing calendar if he agreed to wear pink tights and lead something.

Ren, Nami, and Joe

Ren bouldering Pigpen.

Brewing up the morning's libations.

Alex putting in some laps on the Aiguille de Joshua Tree.

And leading the comparably difficult Hot Rocks.

An evening of bouldering before the drive home.
