April 5-6, 2008 - Valley

Biblical valley weekend with Polly and Brother's Smith, Campbell. Polly and Colin were sending!

Saturday: Cookie for Wyatt/Marshall, Pat n Jack for Polly/Colin. The latter each led Sherrie's and Knob Job clean. Cookie: Catchy warmup, Wyatt led Waverly, both he and I finally led Butterballs, I amateured the first part of Butterfingers and had to hang. Surfer Bob sighting. Wyatt had a go at Crack-A-Go-Go, styling the bottom until something horrible happened, and suddenly he was on his back in the tree. Ponderous! No obvious damage however. Surfer Bob bounded over and obligingly finished the pitch.

Sunday: Polly and Colin did Serenity/Sons, with Polly (pretty much) sending the 3rd pitch, somehow managing to place 3 pieces mid-crux! Colin and his man-thighs also crushed on his first long valley route (!) and only third day climbing in the valley ever (!). Wyatt and I checked out Arches Terrace Direct, with Wyatt doing a nice job on the thin, leaning crux pitch. Rest of it was killer hand cracks mostly - definitely an un-sung valley classic. Sublime mexi-fare at Ramon's on the way home.
