August 5th-6th, 2006 - Tuolumne with the crew
Good weekend in Tuolumne with a bunch of folks, including Polly "Thesis Due in One Week" Fordyce and Matt "Transition-lens Ladykiller" Lappe. Others: Scott n Steph, Weave (+ advisor Cammie), Jared, Kerzhner, Sarah Slocum. Wyatt and Stemler were around somewhere too, and maybe Ryan Ernst.
Matt found us in the parking lot Saturday morning, and with Jared and Mike we did Hoodwink, the roof of which kicked my ass and Polly's too. Afterwards Jared and Mike did the first two pitches of By Hook or By Crook, and Matt and Polly and I went down the hill and did Chinese Handcuffs, which I led (and hung on) with all the grace of a cerebral palsied water buffalo. Kerzhner, fresh from the womb and sporting a "vintage" Royal Robbins sweater he bought of rockclimbing.com for $160, predictably cruised Chinese Handcuffs, despite never having laid eyes on a camming device:
On Sunday, Matt, Polly and I followed Steph and Sarah up to Medlicott, where they did Excellent Smithers and maybe something else, and we did some short bolted climbs to the right. Matt and Polly on Shady Rest:
