This tool queries global maps of the velocity of climate change (km/yr) calculated at 1 km (1/120 degree) resolution using 100 year temporal gradients from an ensemble of 16 Global Climate Models and the SRES A1B emission scenario. The spatial gradients are derived from WorldClim. For further details consult Loarie et. al 2009.

The only difference is that due to computational concerns, we've coarsened these results by averaging across 1/12 degree (~10 km) kernels. As a result of this averaging, extreme high and low velocities maybe somewhat smoothed.
