Status Update, September 2009:

I am in my first quarter of law school, having completed my qualifying paper in the PhD program over the summer. I anticipate being advanced to candidacy by the October faculty meeting.

My paper, “‘Because Excellence is the Best Deterrence to Racism’ and ‘Because Black Kids Dream in White’: Compensating Capital in Black Middle Class Parenting” is currently under review at a peer-reviewed journal.
