LIU Yuan received her
Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Tsinghua
University. From 2006, she began her study on groundwater
remediation, specializing in biodegradation and pump-and-treat technique.
Currently, she is pursuing her PhD of EFMH Program in Stanford University, working with Professor
Peter K. Kitanidis. Her current research is focused on mixing processes and reactive
solute transport in groundwater.

tracing modeling

Thesis, 2008: Optimization of
pump-and-treat technology at groundwater remediation sites
Abstract: Develop optimal design of pump-and-treat systems for both the purpose of hydraulic containment
and complete removal. Sensitivity analysis is also presented to observe the
effect of different factors on the optimal results.
