WHAT TO DO AT SLS

While it is not necessary to narrow down your interests to one focus or regional area, you can take better advantage of opportunities that arise in law school if you have articulated to yourself what you want to get out of the experience. Make sure you discuss your interests with Laura Cosovanu, lauracos@stanford.edu at the
Levin Center for Public Interest and take advantage of the self-assessment resources provided both by the Levin Center and the Office for Career Services.

SLS INTERNATIONAL LAW FACULTY AND COURSES

Work Experience

One of the best ways to get essential international public service experience is through a summer internship. Before applying for an internship, you should try to ensure that your interests, strengths and goals are a good match for the organization you have in mind. Talk to the staff of the
Levin Center about your interests.  Also, in addition to researching organizations through websites like PSLawNet.org (see below, Section VII), it is always a good idea to search out past interns and talk to them. The Levin Center online summer job evaluations provide two years of searchable summer internship reports. Please see http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/centers/pip/public_interest/evaluations/

Extra Curricular Activities

Take other international public service classes around the university, attend the events organized by other Stanford entities such as Freeman Spogli Institute (see http://multi.stanford.edu/initiatives/international.html for more information) and become part of relevant SLS/ UNIVERSITY STUDENT GROUPS!
