I'm a freshman considering a major in Public Policy and African-American Studies. I'm participating in the Structured Liberal Education curriculum for my first year.
2008 International Baccalaureate Diploma
The IBO's Diploma Programme is recognized as a rigorous international curriculum that stresses intercultural understanding and the development of personal integrity and character. As a student, I took IB courses in Theory of Knowledge, wrote an Extended Essay (my topic was the role of religion in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict), and completed extensive community service. | more info

3.7 GPA in my county's premier magnet program. While I was a student, Richard Montgomery was ranked 11th in the nation for academic rigor by The Washington Post.

Press & Legislative Intern, US House of Representatives - Rep. Dingell (D-MI)
Worked on Capitol Hill with the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee and Dean of the US House of Representatives. Attended committee hearings, markups, and briefings; wrote responses to constituent mail, gave tours of the US Capitol, and developed segments of his website.

Founding Member, Maryland Youth Legislative Advisory Council
I lobbied successfully for the creation of an elected, state-wide organization of students that will hold hearings, debate legislation, and propose a bill directly onto the floor of the Maryland Legislature. Text of the bill.

Elected to voice youth opinion on the local level and engage students through meaningful political participation.
President, Montgomery County High School Democrats
Organized High School Democratic Clubs in every school by motivating students through liberal policy discussions and informal events with elected officials.
Founding Board Member, Montgomery County Student Government Political Action Committee
Created a PAC which endorsed and mobilized literally hundreds of student volunteers for several progressive candidates in local and congressional elections.
Executive Board Member, MCR SGA (County-Level Student Government)
I testified before committees in the Maryland House and Senate in support of bills that would lower the registration age for voters and allow 17 year-olds to vote in a primary if they will be 18 by the general election. Some of my testimony.
