PELAGIC TRIPS - WEATHER PREDICTIONS
This information is from Chris Hartzell (@biology.ucsc.edu) via Kris Olson (SBB)
For those who go through the dilemma of deciding whether to go on a pelagic trip or not due to weather, here is a site that I and many of us at the stations use for predicting how rough it will be out.
1) go to "Surf Reports" at the top of the page
2) click on the California area of North America
3) click on the area of California that you want to get the predictions forUse the dates and graphs on the lower part of the page to predict how windy/rough it will be on the day you are going. Scrolling over the graphs and pausing will give you the height/speed/direction and time throughout that day.
The reports are pretty accurate from everyone's experience, and have been 100% accurate everytime I have used it to take the Jetski out on the bay.
