I am a PhD candidate in Sociology at Stanford University. My research interests lie within the intersection of
organizational theory, social movement research, and the study of social networks. In particular, I am interested in the role of
language and rhetoric in institutional change and social movement processes, and I am keen on incorporating ideas and tools from
computer science and linguistics with sociological research. I am a graduate fellow at the Center on Philanthropy
and Civil Society (PACS), where I examine the relationship between neighborhood civic infrastructure and collective civic action.
I have a MA in Sociology from Stanford and a MSc in Economics from the Swedish School of Economics in Finland.
Prior to coming to Stanford, I was a research assistant in the department for investigative journalism in the
newspaper Helsingin Sanomat in Finland and a program director in the department of Marketing in the Swedish School of Economics.
I enjoy sailing and hiking, and I am slightly addicted to coffee and salty liquorice, a treat that few people outside Scandinavia seem to appreciate.
