I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. I am also a faculty affiliate of the Center for Democracy Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL), the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (CCSRE), and the Center for African Studies. My research interests range across the fields of comparative politics, international relations, and political economy. Much of my current work examines the organization and behavior of non-state actors in internal conflict, but I have also written about ethnic politics, democratic transition, and humanitarian intervention.
