A few of these were done using my own home-brew raytracer and some were rendered using extensions
that Michael Green and I implemented for LRT (Literate Ray Tracer) by Matt Pharr and Greg Humphreys.

First, some obligatory spheres. This image was raytraced using just a single bounce.
The rest of the images using raytracing to get the direct illumination component and photon
mapping for everything else.
Followed by a dazzling array of translucent candles and cubes inside Cornell Boxes:
A collection of buddha statues with varying subsurface scattering parameters:
And finally, some dragons which also happen to be translucent.
