I am a doctoral candidate in philosophy of education at Stanford University and a research assistant at The Carnegie Foundation for the Avancement of Teaching. My main scholarly interest is the role of moral, social, and political values in social science research. Of related interest are the implications of these judgments for P-16 science education, public policy research, and responsible citizenship. I have bachelor degrees in engineering and philosophy and a master’s degree in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining Carnegie, I worked in the Stanford Educational Assessment Laboratory with Professor Rich Shavelson. I am co-author (with D. C. Phillips) of a forthcoming book chapter on the use of design experiments in education research.
