theres a sense of freedom a man desires sometimes. he wants to go to his private cave and solve problems. perhaps he prefers to be alone, to deal with things until he can safely get out of his self imposed confinement; this isn't selfishness, or is it? personal freedom after all.

does it happens to be quite entirely the opposite in case of women? do they prefer to share hardships and relish help to deal with their problems?

the implicit signals that these inherent instincts convey between the opposite sex can be extremely confusing, especially in case of lack of familiarity with these antithetical innate tendencies.

when her man doesn't talk, she instinctively concludes that he's not interested enough to share his problems; on the contrary however, he's perhaps in his cave solving problems, and knows that he'll be done with them sometime.
similarly, when she's upset she wants to share her feelings. he either tries to treat her with respect by reposing confidence in her ability to deal with her problems; it'd perhaps be insulting to offer help - is what he feels. however, this attitude does actually do quite the opposite of what might be genuinely intended; she feels humiliated because she needs to be offered help by who she cares for; its sometimes a test that she'll subject a man to; to find out if she's loved. and she doesn't know that a man's way of respecting others is to confide in them; to show implicitly his belief that they'd be able to do handle things without any help.

a man would also perhaps try to prove to a wonam that he's worthwhile by trying to offer solutions to the problems she shares. this turns out to be frustrating for her; she doesn't want solutions, she seeks empathy and desires to be listened to and cared for; no solutions please....

a man likes to give and a woman relishes accepting. there is a power in accepting because thats a motivating urge for a man, he dies slowly if he feels that he's not needed. paradoxically perhaps, one could conclude that the fair sex is a superior "race". they reproduce, carry the evolution on; they motivate, they love, they feel and emphathize deeply, they like to be loved and be cherished, respected and treated as they very well deserve to be.
