Decentralization Conference - Spring 2003

Announcement

The next Decentralization Conference has been scheduled for: the afternoon May 2 through the morning of May 4, 2003. While the conference does not officially begin until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, coffee and meeting rooms will be available on Friday (May 2) morning for participants who are early arrivals. Locations to be announced.
It is being organized by Professor James Moore and will be held at Purdue University, West Lafayette Indiana.

Program

In addition to the traditional coverage of the conference (including mechanism and market design, resource allocation, matching, team theory, contracting, organization of the firm, communication, computation, processing of information...), papers related to various forms of robustness in mechanism and organizational design were encouraged to be submitted.

A preliminary program is available at http://www.hss.caltech.edu/~jacksonm/PrelimProgram.doc

Getting to and Staying in West Lafayette:

The conference will be held at the Stewart Center (room 314), which is close to the Memorial Union. Accomodations are available at the Union Club on the Purdue campus, which is both conveniently located and very comfortable. Information about the union club is available at http://www.union.purdue.edu/
Telephone numbers for reservations are: 800 320 6291, or 765 494 8913.

We have block reservations for the evenings of May 2-4. Conference participants should mention the conference in making reservations. An item of interest to participants: all rooms have a second phone line for modem use, and (by the date of the conference) should have high-speed Internet access.

As they are filling up, we also have space at the Hilton Garden Inn in West Lafayette (ask for the Decentralization conference rate). They are a little less than a mile from the meeting room. They will provide shuttle service. The Hilton's number is: 765 743 2100.

There is a small airport in West Lafayette and the Union Club is only about an hour's drive from the Indianapolis Airport. There is convenient limo service from the Indy Airport to the Purdue Memorial Union http://www.lafayettelimo.com/ , and free guest parking right across the street from the Union Club for those who would prefer to rent an auto.

For additional questions about travel and local accommodations, please contact Karen Angstadt at angstadt@mgmt.purdue.edu

The funding will allow for reimbursement of reasonable expenses of the speakers, and possibly some subsidization of the expenses of graduate students.

Thank you and we hope to see you in the spring!

Matt Jackson, series organizer
