Day job: Director of Academic Computing Services at Stanford University. Academic Computing provides client-facing services for faculty and students including consulting and education; innovation in instructional and research uses of technology; teaching and learning spaces; multimedia services; public computing and printing; and residential network management.

Also: Writer; author of hypertext novel Figurski at Findhorn on Acid (Eastgate Systems, 2001, 2009), other electronic literature, short fiction, journalism, scholarship, and college textbooks.

Previously: Teacher; Lecturer in the Stanford writing program and English Department for 12 years, and Resident Fellow in a Stanford freshman dorm for 7 years. Also taught English and Creative Writing courses at Canada College (Redwood City, CA) and San Francisco State University.
