Hobbies

I am fortunate or cursed by the fact that I have too many interests outside of my formal work. I love the outdoors, cooking, various competitive sports, gardening, woodworking, and there's never enough time to really devote to any one of them.

I recently tried to improve my photographic eye by engaging in a photodiary project (with a cheap digital camera), in which I tried to take one picture a day that captures some element of the day. I created a collage, which is not that good, but I did improve my skills in framing shots.

I have been enjoying myself up in the Sierras for some time, climbing and hiking, but this summer has been spectacular, as I've carved out some time to do it before I age too much. I wrote up a rather long-winded account of three of the adventures for my mother-in-law who wanted to share them vicariously, and it is posted here. Click here.
