What I do at Stanford:

I advise graduate students and teach graduate courses in systems and control engineering. This field of study deals with interconnected computers and physical systems in a critical setting.

My work in optimization-based estimation, detection, and data mining is a collaboration with Professor Stephen Boyd. Many applications are in the aerospace area and involve work with NASA.

I am an Affiliated Faculty Member of the Precourt Institute for Energy. The project in Analysis and Control of Smart Electrical Distribution Systems is a collaboration with Professor Sanjay Lall. We are currently looking for graduate students to work on control and monitoring problems with practical applications to smart grids.

I am teaching a seminar course on Intelligent Energy Systems, in Spring 2011, jointly with Professor Dan O'Neill. My past courses include, Fault Diagnostics Systems, Spring 2009, and Control Engineering in Industry, Spring 2005, Winter 2003.

Interests and Applications:

My interests are in information decision and control systems area with applications across many industries. Recent focus is on problems in optimization-based control and estimation, system engineering, statistical process monitoring, fault isolation, forecasting, and data mining.

I lead a consultancy, Mitek Analytics LLC, which works with NASA, the US Air Force, and Fortune 100 companies. Before that I spent 10 years with Honeywell, where I worked on aircraft and space systems, turbomachines (jet engines), and process control applications. My earlier application experience includes automotive, robotics (force control of robotics systems, legged locomotion), and biomechanics.
