What I do at Stanford:

I coordinated a seminar course, Fault Diagnostics Systems, Spring 2009, co-sponsored by NASA.
I will probably teach the Fault Diagnostics again in 2010.
In the past, I taught Control Engineering in Industry, Spring 2005, Winter 2003.
I supervise PhD work in optimization-based estimation. This is done in collaboration with Professor Stephen Boyd.

Interests and Applications:

I work in the general area of information decision and control systems. Recent focus is on optimization-based control and estimation, fault-tolerant system, fault diagnostics and prognostics, predictive maintenance, and operations research. I lead a consultancy Mitek Analytics LLC, working with NASA, US Air Force, and Fortune 100 companies. Earlier, I have spent 10 years with Honeywell, where I worked on aircraft and space systems, turbomachines (jet engines), and process control applications. Other application experience includes automotive, robotics ( force control of robotics systems, legged locomotion), and biomechanics.
