Alexander Gorbenko is a 5th year Finance Ph.D. candidate at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. He holds degrees from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (M.Sc., Applied Math and Physics, graduated in 2004) and New Economic School, Moscow (M.A., Economics, graduated in 2005).
Alexander's research interests are theory and structural estimation in areas of dynamic capital structure, security design, executive compensation and financial auctions. His current research includes:
1. Timing and security design of mergers
2. Endogenous entry and heterogeneity of bidders in M&A auctions
3. Cross-section of firm and managerial characteristics in levered firms

Alexander's papers were presented at the meetings of the Western Finance Association, Mitsui Symposium on Finance, and Trans-Atlantic Doctoral Conference, London.
