Why AEC Professionals Need a Framework of 3D/4D CAD Implementation and Benefits

• The metrics for qualitatively or quantitatively measuring features of 3D and 4D CAD implementation, (e.g. , what type of data is modeled for what sort of needs, at what point in time, for what group of stakeholders, by what kinds of tools, and following what form of process), is not well established.
• Moreover, traditional measures of the relationship between resource input and productivity output in money value (i.e., ROI) fail to account for non-traditional sources of value that 3D and 4D CAD can contribute to project performance improvement, such as increase in product quality, process promptness and responsiveness of coordination in an organization, etc.
