A. Jess Shenson Recital Series

Dahl is founder and artistic director of the A. Jess Shenson Recital Series at Stanford University, which presents extraordinary singers and pianists in the intimate setting of the recital hall. The 2007-08 season presents soprano Leah Dexter with pianist Kathryn Goodson, tenor John Bellemer with pianist Louise Costigan-Kerns, and mezzo soprano Amy Schneider with pianist Laura Dahl. Past vocal artists have included baritones Kurt Ollmann and Christopheren Nomura, sopranos Christine Brandes and Karen Slack, mezzo sopranos Zheng Cao and Catherine Cook, and counter tenor Brian Asawa. Each vocal artist offers a master class for Stanford students in conjunction with their recital performance. This affords students the opportunity to actively engage and interact with the artists, and audiences the opportunity to observe the artists in a setting less formal than the recital hall.
