GSC Representative in 2007
The 2007 ASSU elections have begun, and I am running for a position as a representative for the Stanford Graduate Student Council. I would like to encourage all Stanford students to review the information available at elections.stanford.edu and to vote in the upcoming elections.
As a GSC Representative in the coming year, I will focus on creating new academic mentorship programs, diversifying existing graduate life programming, and increasing constituency outreach. I firmly believe in a dynamic and interactive relationship between the student body and it's representatives. Therefore, I will make it my primary objective to find and implement simple and prompt mechanisms to gather an accurate portrait of our current concerns as graduate students, and address them to the GSC, ASSU, administration, faculty, and the Stanford community at large.
As the GSC Programming Coordinator, I have been involved in organizing many of the large graduate events this year, such as the Graduate Formal and the Fall Welcome Party, which I hope you have all enjoyed. My involvement has made me well acquainted with the procedures of the GSC and ASSU. As an events organizer for the GSPB and Community Associate for EV, I have had the joy and privilege of meeting and speaking with students from all different disciplines. I believe my experiences have given me a unique opportunity to understand the needs of students across the departmental divide.
