Steven Euijong Whang
About:
I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Computer Science Department of Stanford University. My advisor is Professor
Hector Garcia-Molina. I work on the
SERF (Stanford Entity Resolution Framework) project, focusing on general and scalable solutions for Entity Resolution. I am also exploring how Entity Resolution can help solve Data Privacy problems. In general, I am interested in Data Analytics.
I
taught a graduate-level course
CS245 (Database System Principles) in Summer 2009. I am a recipient of the
IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award (2011).
I expect to graduate in June 2012 and am currently looking for academic positions (
research statement,
teaching statement).

Favorite Quotes:
- If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.(1Cor13:1-3)
