The New Wave of Tech Careers: Why Students Should Take Advantage

Being tech savvy has always been a skill valued by employers in all industries. Ever had a friend or family member who was known for being good with all things technology related? Chances are you’ve pestered them a time or two for help.

This same concept can definitely be applied to the demand for skilled technicians in the healthcare field. There are tons of jobs in this category that are ripe for the taking, from Los Angeles, California to Buffalo, New York. Students with a natural proficiency in all things tech related will certainly want to jump on such opportunities.

Aside from traditional 4-year colleges and universities, attendance at ultrasound technician schools has continued to remain very high because of the mounting evidence of job growth in this field. Additionally, what makes this option so appealing is that students can graduate in less than 4 years. In some cases, they may only need to obtain an Associate’s degree or certificate, depending on state requirements. This also opens up the possibility of completing one’s education online or at a community college.

Each program varies from institution to institution but in most situations, students enrolled in a tech healthcare program get to learn their trade outside of the classroom environment. Although classroom instruction is still a necessity, these types of programs understand the importance of focusing on the use of the hands-on, learning based approach for students.

Like nursing students, future ultrasound technicians must complete a clinical component of the program in order to go on to take the certification exam. that would allow them to practice professionally upon graduation. Fulfilling the clinical portion not only ensures that students develop real world skills, it also helps to boost their confidence going into the workforce.

However, it is important to point out that pursuing a tech healthcare occupation doesn’t mean just being regulated to working in a regular hospital. The job titles that fall under this category extend beyond humans in the medical world.

Students who also happen to be animal lovers will be happy to know that there are tech jobs available (and in demand) within the veterinary field. Of course it is important for students to understand that there is a big difference in educational requirements and training.

One of the easiest ways to narrow down the choices as to which veterinary technician schools to apply to is by selecting those accredited by the AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA). An entire list of schools can be accessed by visiting the CVTEA official website. The list states which institutions have been “fully accredited,” as well as which ones are currently on probation, in the process of working towards being fully accredited and even the schools who have had their accreditation terminated.

Once the proper education and training has been provided, graduates will be on the straight path towards a successful and rewarding career.
