Florida 1995

We had never been to Florida before and we didn't know what to expect. After one day, we fell in love with the beauty of the state.

This is me in one of St. Petersburg's parks that overlooks the beach at the Gulf of Mexico.

While in St. Petersburg, you must see the "Salvador Dali Museum."

Okay, so the outside of the building doesn't really look like "The Persistence of Memory." But it truly is a fascinating place to visit. The museum houses one of the largest collections of Dali's works in the world. Plus, as I already mentioned, St. Petersburg is a beautiful bay city, with lots of friendly people. It kind of reminded us of San Diego, except the weather is a good deal muggier.

In case you haven't noticed, Rose loves Dali's work. We both loved the museum.

After leaving St. Petersburg, we traveled down the Gulf coast, and eventually ventured towards the west, and stopped at the Florida Everglades.

The Everglades is a 'must see.' This swamp and marsh area extends for miles and is home to the Florida panther, many alligators, bald eagles, snapping turtles, and poisonous snakes.

Although the weather was hot and humid, Rose and I enjoyed our Boardwalk tour over a swamp. Rose is standing in front of one of the many cyprus trees that are scattered throughout the Everglades.

Our last stop was a trip to the Florida Keys. The first Key is Key Largo and the keys extend for 125 miles southward, ending at Key West, the most southern point of the United States. The Keys are so breathtaking, it will leave you speechless.

We can't wait to go back!
