Research Interests

My research focuses on romantic and sexual relationships, particularly in late adolescence and early adulthood. I am interested in partner selection and relationship formation as well as in dynamics of negotiation and compromise within established relationships. I believe that sexual and romantic relationships and experiences are vital in shaping individual's life courses and in perpetuating, and potentially altering, gender, class, and racial inequality. I am also interested in the importance of physical attractiveness, both as it procures desirability and power in the partner market and as it relates to self-image. Here is a link to my research page.

Teaching Interests

The majority of my teaching experience has involved teaching quantitative research methods and helping students design and complete their own research projects. I enjoy teaching research design and quantitative methods, helping students hone their critical teaching skills, and empowering them to pursue their individual research agendas. I have designed and taught courses in quantitative methodology at the graduate and undergraduate level and I served as the teaching assistant for one of the core graduate methods classes for three consequtive years. Details on my teaching experience and class materials are available here.

I would also enjoying teaching classes related to my areas of research, including sociology of the family, gender, sexual and romantic relationships, and body image.
