Relation of technology use and SLA; physical environment and SLA

Background:  Lots of practitioners want to know how they should arrange their labs. It depends on their goals, but some arrangements must be more conducive to learning through specific activities than others. It’s another part of the Task-Technology Fit theoretical framework.

Research question:  General: Does the use of technology lead to more effective language learning? In what ways and of what kind?

Specific: How does the physical arrangement of technology affect the learning done in the environment? (e.g., lab vs. technology enhanced classroom).

Suggested methodology/comments:  Experiment – random student assignment to lab and classroom environments, same computer-supplied tasks and arrangements. Interviews as a follow-up.
