Listening Comprehension

Notes Week 6 - 2

I. Midterm Parts 1 & 2

II. Introduction to FlashACE: www.stanford.edu/dept/lc/efs/FlashACE/

III. Midterm Part 3

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Homework:

1) Go to the FlashACE page at www.stanford.edu/dept/lc/efs/FlashACE/  and go through Intermediate level exercises 1 and 2. Do not do any other exercises yet--you'll have time later. Think about how you could best use this type of activity to help you improve your listening. We'll discuss this in groups next week.

2) Go to one or more of the websites we have reviewed in this class

    www.englishbaby.com

    www.esl-lab.com

    www.elllo.org

    www.manythings.org

Spend 20-30 minutes each on at least three different occasions (60-90 minutes total) at least ten hours apart. Spend an additional five minutes at the end of each session thinking about the experience and writing up the report.

As usual, by Monday at 6:00 PM, send me a report at efs@stanford.edu specifying the following, using the example below as a guide. If possible, copy and send the whole table in a word file as an attachment instead of in the body of an email.

Website Exercise Date & Time Why did you choose it? How did it help you?
ELLLO Life Adjustment 11/2: 9:00-9:25 PM Topic is interesting & familiar: I'm making a life adjustment here I learned about culture shock and reverse culture shock. I practiced dictation on 4 sentences in the middle and only made a few mistakes. It was useful for processing practice.
