Grammatical Gender and Linguistic Relativity

There is a good deal of debate about the extent to which gender in language constrains the way speakers perceive gender. This is part of a wider issue of linguistic relativity, that is, the extent to which language constrains thought. Today, Stanford psychologist Lera Boroditsky will talk about her research on grammatical gender and linguistic relativity.
