Gili S. Drori (Ph.D., Sociology; Stanford University, 1997) is a lecturer in Stanford University's program on International Relations. Her research interests include the comparative study of science and technology, social progress and rationalization, globalization, governance, and higher education. She is the author of several papers and chapters on science and development, comparative science education, world culture, policy regimes, and international organziations. She also published several books on these various issues and won several notations for these publications. Her books include: “Science in the Modern World Polity: Institutionalization and Globalization” (Stanford University Press, 2003; with John W. Meyer, Francisco O. Ramirez and Evan Schofer); “Global E-litism: Digital Technology, Social Inequality, and Transnationality” (Worth Publishers, 2005); “Globalization and Organization: World Society and Organizational Change” (Oxford University Press, 2006; co-edited with John W. Meyer and Hokyu Hwang); and, “World Society: The Writings of John W. Meyer” (Oxford University Press, expected early 2009; co-edited with Georg Krücken). Dr. Moira Gunn interviewed her on the syndicated radio show TechNation on matters relating to the 2003 and 2005 books on science, technology and their globalization. Gili leads the honors program in International Relations and teaches classes titled: “science, technology, and development,” “globalization and organizations,” “the transnational workplace,” and “organizational studies: theories and analyses.”
