Ely Cathedral -- Exterior

Ely is a small town in the fens about 15 minutes north of Cambridge by train which happens to have a rather large cathedral. The tall frontal tower appears here as I approach along a low wall running towards a side entrance.

A postcard-style shot of the cathedral from the front, the cannon in the foreground making an interesting visual juxtaposition (if my memory serves me correctly, the cannon was brought back as a trophy from the Crimean War).
